Order the transfer from the airport in advance as the common taxi fares are around 25 Euro.
City center apartments are mainly of de luxe class. Thus, if you want a cheaper apartment, please, start looking for one located in central areas.
The St.Petersburg subway runs quite deep under ground and it usually needs time to get to the platform. In some of the stations it takes about 10 minutes to get down to the platform by the escalator. Therefore, we would recommend to use subway for distant trips or in rush-hours when the city is full of traffic jams.
Very few people speak English in Russia (with even fewer speaking German, French and Spanish). We advise to use a phrase-book.
St.Petersburg is quite an ancient city. It is about 300 years old. We advice you to go sight-seeing or order excursions.
