Cabaret Located in a former Soviet "Palace of Culture" close to the Mariinsky Theater, Cabaret resembles a provincial disco most of the time, except during its transvestite shows, which feature actors impersonating Soviet pop stars, according to the local gay site Xs.gay.ru. Cheap bar. Thursday through Sunday, 11 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Greshniki
- The decor suggests that Greshniki ("Sinners") is more of an S&M joint, with chains hanging across the spiral staircase and a curious medieval-castle interior. The bar staff are dressed as either demons or fallen angels and the strippers in leather. Spread over four floors, Greshniki caters to the lower end of the
gay market, and much of what's on offer here is in imitation of the now-defunct club 69.
